Developments at Lock

2007 was a year of great change at Lock Inspection Systems. In the middle of the year we completed a management buy-out, financed and supported by the Royal Bank of Scotland. This brought to the fore a management team steeped in tradition and culture of Lock, with an exciting blend of sales and technical experience drawn from around the Globe. Mike Randall and I have been joined by Hitesh Hirani, Peter Hartley, Mark D’Onofrio, David Arseneault and Wim Nelemans. Mike has taken on a role as Non-Executive Chairman, with day-to-day responsibilities for Group operations, passing  to me in the role of CEO.

Since that time the management team have been working to put into place the building blocks of the business plan to enable Lock to move forward and strengthen its position in our business market. In particular, we have added to the team, bringing on board Simon Taylor in a Sales and Marketing management role. The team is committed to delivering quality product to our customers and importantly to offer them the highest levels of support and service, and to work with them to develop products best-suited to their ever-changing needs.

Before looking forward to the next exciting phase in Lock’s long and varied life, it is appropriate to take a breath, and appreciate how far we have come in the last few years. When we first moved the business away from TransTec control in the late 1990’s we found a business that showed great potential, but one that was suffering greatly from the legacies of its past. Under the leadership of Mike Randall, we have managed to move the business forward into a market-facing operation, with high technical and commercial standards, and a strong position in our chosen market place.

We have a robust business, and a new group of investor managers who are dedicated to play a part in progressing it. In many ways the way forward is “business as usual” with a focus on providing customer support. However we all recognise that the world we operate in is a constantly changing and I see our challenge as being to harness the undoubted talents in the company, our distributors, agents and customers to ensure that Lock continually adapts to that change, such that Lock plays an important part in the marketplace for many years to come. We are proud of our independence and heritage, and remain confident that we can show the teamwork needed to achieve this.
