NESTLE OSEM STANDARDISE ON LOCK’S METAL DETECTORS

NESTLE OSEM STANDARDISE ON LOCK’S NEW
HIGH FREQUENCY METAL DETECTORS

The Osem Group of Companies is one of the largest food manufacturing and marketing companies in Israel. Founded in 1942, by three manufacturers who set up a joint marketing network, the company quickly developed and in 1946 they made the dramatic decision to set up a joint factory for the three partner groups.

As the company continued to develop, Osem attracted the attention of the SwissPackaged product on conveyor based multi-national group Nestlé and in 1995 they took an initial 10% interest. This has since grown to a 51% controlling stake in 1999.

In 2007, the southern-based Sderot factory undertook a major replacement programme of their existing metal detection systems and looked to standardise on a single supplier. After evaluating all the major suppliers on the market Osem chose Lock Inspection Systems and have since installed 16 metal detectors across their food production lines over the last two years.

Nestlé Osem decided to select the new high frequency detector, which was ideal for their range of dry products. Operating at a frequency of 875 kHz, sensitivity is improved by up to 30% on all metals – especially stainless steel, when compared with the traditional frequency of 300 kHz used for dry products.

Carol Cohen, Packaging Manager commented, “We chose Lock due to past experience of their detectors in our factory, the proposed performance with the new high frequency detectors, strong local service support provided by their agent Hirshberg Brothers and finally the good value that both companies were offering as a total package”
