Interpack PROCESSES AND PACKAGING 2008 – the largest international packaging show in the world. Launched in 1958, Interpack will celebrate its 50th anniversary with its biggest show to date. From 24 to 30 April 2008, the international packaging industry will get together in Düsseldorf, Germany at the biggest Interpack event ever staged. Lock Inspection Systems will attend the show and will be situated in the British Pavilion in Hall 5, stand no D02/1.

At the Show Lock will be showcasing its state-of-the-art MET 30+ Universal range of metal detectors. These are to include the MET 30+ Universal 3f, hf and 3f/hf, also the world’s leading pharmaceutical metal detector.

Based on proven advanced technology, the MET 30+ hf offers up to 30% higher sensitivity than its predecessor. The unit employs a single high frequency, crystal controlled oscillator and is designed primarily for snack food and bakery industries. The MET 30+ hf inspects dry foods such as biscuits or crisps at 875Khz – three times more than standard food industry detectors.

Visitors can also view Lock’s MET 30+ Universal 3f in operation. This isthe world’s first fully automatic triple frequency detector, capable of highly accurate inspection of both poly-film and metallised packaged products. The 3f operates at three crystal controlled frequencies – high, medium and low – and features an in-built Automatic Frequency Selection facility which chooses the optimum frequency, whatever the product or packaging. When inspecting poly-wrapped products, the detector will automatically select high frequency, whereas for a product packaged in metallised film it will operate at low frequency. The MET 30+ 3f’s in-built automatic product set-up facility eliminates time spent configuring the detector and ensures consistently high performance by memorising settings for up to 100 products.

Lock will also demonstrate its standard membrane keypad and touchscreen interface mounted on MET 30+ detectors. The rugged design of the membrane keypad lends it to use in harsh production environments. The user-friendly touchscreen panel incorporates Lock’s ADC software so the data can be viewed on the screen itself or alternatively from a networked PC or laptop. Lock’s Data Management System will be available to view; a real-time performance measurement system that can network individual lines (either metal detectors or checkweighers) within a production plant.

Lock’s range of metal detectors includes the Compact Vertical Fall system that comes has high frequency electronics and is the only metal detector of its type to have been certified by an independent test house to conform to the stringent requirements of the ATEX Directive. ATEX certification guarantees that powders, granules and dusts can pass safely through the detector vessel with no risk of explosion.

Also on stand is the world’s benchmark pharmaceutical metal detector - the most sensitive in Lock’s MET 30+ Universal range. Constructed throughout in stainless steel and utilising advanced electronics  to ensure that microscopic foreign bodies in a production line can be detected and rejected at speeds of up to 30,000 tablets per minute, these detectors can be specified with a touch screen control panel interface allowing immediate access to batch and event data.

The MET 30+ Vertical Fall Metal Detector achieves sensitivity levels of up to 0.5mm for stainless steel and 0.3mm for ferrous metals, and may be positioned at an early stage in the production process to inspect incoming raw materials of formulations in granular or bulk powder form. This enables removal of all unwanted metal contaminants before production commences
