LOCK ‘INNOVATIVE’ IN NEW MARKET SEGMENT
Wet wipe’s producer ‘INNOVATE’ Netherlands BV, has invested in metal detection systems from Lock Inspection Systems for the improvement of their internal quality control proceedures. Joost van Haren founded the company in 1973 to focus on the development and exploitation of wet wipes for customers in the retail, health care and other industries including: baby, cleansing, multi cleaning and impregnated speciality wipes. At present the company has two production facilities. INNOVATE Netherlands BV is situated in Venray and INNOVATE GmbH is based in Naumburg (Saale) in Germany.
Currently INNOVATE have four Lock Metal Detection Systems in operation, divided between these two locations. These facilities have a controlled filtration system and quality procedures for the finished and semi finished products, although this proved not to be enough to meet their high customers’ demands.
Lock recommended its MET30+ with ADC Software, this is a powerful graphical on-screen set-up and diagnostic tool, developed in-house. This software allows INNOVATE to optimise detection performance, identify and resolve problem areas and reduce ‘product effect’. ADC overcomes this problem by recording the profile of conductive products and then automatically tuning the detector to recognise the presence of metal. The detector rejects contaminants but does not give false readings, so avoiding frequent rejections and waste. The metal detection systems are equipped with an air blast reject mechanism, which rejects contaminated products into a secure reject container. These products can then be examined by the technical department of INNOVATE to determine the source on the contamination.
“The user-friendly ADC Software makes it possible to very easily set-up the machine if new products are introduced. Even the smallest of metal contaminants are detected;” says Mr. Melchior van Haren, Managing Director of INNOVATE. “The investment has contributed to an increase of security within the production. The production process is being controlled more efficiently with these high quality inspection systems. INNOVATE wants to produce better products in a more efficient way to compete with low-wage countries. Only with “better inspection equipment” can we win this battle.”
Lock Inspection Systems has supplied checkweighing and metal detection equipment to companies in the food, pharmaceutical and packaging industries for over fifty years and counts many key industry players amongst its customers. Headquartered in the UK, with offices in France, Australia, the Netherlands and the USA, Lock has a global network of distributors and high calibre maintenance and research teams.
